Unilever strengthens ties with customs on ease of doing business

Unilever Nigeria Plc. is partnering the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for the promotion of ease of doing business in the country.

Both organisations at an interactive session in Lagos, agreed that Article 13 of World Trade Organisation charter, which allows consignees to take delivery of imports while disputes are being resolved paves way for ease in doing business at the ports.

The Managing Director, Unilever, Yaw Nsarkoh, who extolled the policy, harped on need for importers of raw materials and manufacturers in the country to take advantage of customs improved trade dispute mechanism which saves time and prevent losses to factories.

The Comptroller-General of NCS, Hameed Ali, who was represented by Deputy Comptroller- General of Customs in charge of Excise, Free Trade Zones and Incentives, Patience Iferi, commended the partnership between the organisations.

He reiterated customs resolve to on facilitation of trade, noting that the service is focused on national security and economic development for the country.

In his remark, Nsarkoh commended the NCS for the tremendous openness and constructiveness with which it approached the forum.
